What the snot?

Ok look I enjoy beer as much as the next Oregonian. We love in the land of the micro brew and I am a big believer in a slice of lemon with my Hefeweizen or even a little lime. But what i discovered the other day at my local grocery store shocked am repulsed me and I felt I needed to share with the class.

I have only 3 words. "Barf me out"

In other news, I have been keeping busy over at another blog that I have been working on for quite a while but have kept under wraps. I figured it is probably time to go public. It is a basic weight loss blog that tracks my progress and frustrations. You may see a side of me that you really didn't care to see and I won't be offended if you don't follow it. I just thought I would let you know what is occupying my time and brain at this very moment. I am on a weight loss war path and just thought that this blog was not the best place to document it. So check it out if you are interested.

So until next time peace out.

Summer extravaganza

So I know I have been sort of neglectful over here. In all honesty there has not been a whole lot of note worthy stuff going on here.

I have been doing a lot of canning as I do every summer. In case you have forgotten last summer...let me remind you. 2008 summer canning extravaganza

This summer has been no exception. Thus far I have done ......

  • strawberry jam
  • raspberry jam
  • raspberry syrup
  • blueberry syrup
  • blueberry pie filling
  • apricots
  • beets
  • pickles
  • salsa
  • peach/pineapple salsa
  • pickled peppers
  • bing cherry pie filling
  • stewed tomatoes

My kitchen has been a nonstop conveyor belt of garden goodness. But I have not been documenting all this action on this blog. Instead I have been working a lot over at my other blog Gen x home ec. I have been working at putting up recipes and "How to's" for a lot of my basic stuff.

Come check it out and try some of my recipes out. Lord knows they are family tested.

Dragon boat races

So as you may have guessed I am completely behind with this blog. I have started another blog that is semi private about my journey on becoming healthy and is sort of by invitation only unless you contact me and beg to be able to read it. It is not really of interest to anybody but those closest to me and is sort of a sensitive topic that I didn't want on display for all the world to criticize. If you are interested let me know and I will give you an invite.

Also both Sunshine and Bug have had end of school year festivities the past couple of weeks that have kept us busy. Then we went camping this past weekend (pictures to come soon) so needless to say I have gotten a bit behind.

But I didn't want to forget about the dragon boat races that we went to a couple of weeks ago. My sister in law was on a team this year and competed in the Rose Festival races. It was a lot of fun. It was down at the water front downtown. Their team came in 2nd and they are racing again soon. We really enjoyed it.

Yeah I am a slacker

I know I have sort of dropped the ball with my blog here. But in my defense, I have been wicked crazy busy just with home stuff and life. Also I have decided to take on another blog.

It may not be of interest to anyone but myself, but I have had this nagging desire to start another one for quite sometime. It is a "how to" for all things domestic and home based. Might as well use my trivial knowledge for something useful :)

http://genxhomeec.blogspot.com/

So check it out. Or don't. Whatever. It's more of a creative outlet than anything.

Also as a side note, I am going to be out of town for the weekend, but I promise to get with the program all around next week.

No really I will.

Seriously.

Ok, I'll stop.

:P

It's here! That shocking time of year!

It is May 1st. May day.

And so I give you my favorite song from my favorite musical of all time . Camelot.

Because it is the month of "yes you may."

Let's get this song on New moon!

So I have this friend that is an incredible musician and has a unique chance to do something awesome. My friend Kristin has written and recorded a song that has a good chance of being on the New Moon soundtrack. I am asking all of my readers to do something huge for her. Listen to the song and comment on the youtube comment area. The full story is right here as written on her own blog http://coppeefamily.blogspot.com/2009/04/my-new-campaign.html.

Here is the video here. Just tell her what you think in the youtube comments.

This is what she sent to me....

On another note - HOLY CRAP, JAX! Thank you for promoting me! The song is not for sale at the moment since I'm trying to get it on New Moon. For now I just need as many people as possible to log onto youtube.com, look up The Mending Seed, watch the video and rate it. Leaving comments is good too. It's part of my campaign for when I approach Summit.

In other exciting news - my cousin heard it, loved it and told me his wife's aunt is best friends with Stephenie Meyer. He said he was going to see the aunt at Easter and he was going to make her listen to the song in hopes that she would take it to Stephenie because if Stephenie likes it, she can get Summit to listen to it. ANYWAY, I haven't heard back. I need to email him and let him know that keeping me waiting is not a good idea. LOL. I'm dying here!

Also, the CEO of BMI records in Nashville has heard it and apparently really likes it and says HE has connections to get it into New Moon. Again - still waiting to hear back. (SIGH)

Thanks, again, for your support! It means so much to me! I'm really touched. Thank you!

So lets get in there and make this happen!

Yeah, Yeah I know!

I know, I am a crummy blogger. I let my pesky life get in the way of the blogosphere. (Yes it is a real word) I have been busy what with my addiction to all things Twilight and the whole back to school routine.

Also, my husband's family rents a beach house every winter around this time so we were out of town for the past 4 days.

Yeah.....that's my excuse.

I have a ton of pictures that i fully intend on putting up either later tonight or tomorrow, but for now, just know that I have not forgotten you. I am just wicked busy.

But for now I will just give you a little taste.

So many fashion faux pas going on here ....where to begin? I call it Oregon coast chic.

Who liknks to me? Ask me how....just kidding. Just click here.
