Oh the glorious days of summer

I love summer. Maybe I have mentioned this a time or two. Living in a place where it rains 75% of the year is really fighting my nature. But for now it's where we live and we make the best of it. We basically enjoy every last drop of of summer that we possibly can.

Our days are filled with a whole lot of nothing much but we enjoy every second.

Bug spent his day yesterday having "backpack expeditions" across the street in our field. He and his friends packed their backpacks with their toy compasses and water bottles and hit the trail. I could hear them playing and it was just refreshing to see them completely wrapped up in their own world of imagination. He had a lot of fun.

Then Sunshine spend the majority of her day swimming in the pool. By late afternoon she pulled her wrinkly self out and sat on the porch to dry out in the sun.

Seems the nice warm sun has the same effect on her as it does on me :)

camping

This past weekend we went camping at Fort Stevens outside of Astoria on the coast. My mom joined us in her trailer. We were in our 3 room tent. We had a blast. We stayed 2 nights and the campground was really nice. It was loaded with bike trails so we all loaded up , (Nana too) and hit the trails. We went on a 5 mile ride to the beach and a cool shipwreck and then on to the abandoned battery.

The kids had a blast all weekend making friends at the campground and riding their bikes all over the place. They had a great time. We will definitely be visiting again this summer.

Camera sprites have taken over

So I pulled everything off of my camera last night and had to giggle at what I found on there. It had been laying on the coffee table and I kept catching one or all of the kids playing with it. I would tell them to put it down and they knew that playing with it was off limits. But that doesn't always stop them.

I find this on the camera. I'll just give it to you in the sequence that I found it. I am not exactly sure who the perpetrator was here, but it made me laugh.

I blame those pesky camera sprites.

Dragon boat races

So as you may have guessed I am completely behind with this blog. I have started another blog that is semi private about my journey on becoming healthy and is sort of by invitation only unless you contact me and beg to be able to read it. It is not really of interest to anybody but those closest to me and is sort of a sensitive topic that I didn't want on display for all the world to criticize. If you are interested let me know and I will give you an invite.

Also both Sunshine and Bug have had end of school year festivities the past couple of weeks that have kept us busy. Then we went camping this past weekend (pictures to come soon) so needless to say I have gotten a bit behind.

But I didn't want to forget about the dragon boat races that we went to a couple of weeks ago. My sister in law was on a team this year and competed in the Rose Festival races. It was a lot of fun. It was down at the water front downtown. Their team came in 2nd and they are racing again soon. We really enjoyed it.

But this one is better

Ok I know I already put up the New moon trailer, but this one is fan made and frankly better than the one the pros did. So there you go.

Did I mention I can hardly contain myself for this dumb movie?

:)

Boy scout field trip

So on Saturday my mom and I took the boys out to the military base by the airport for a boy scout field trip. It was "young American day" and so they let all the kids check out all the fighter jets and military gadgets. Also there were firefighters and police there to answer questions and let the kids touch and try on all their gear.

Bug and Peanut has a great time. Bug got to try on Kevlar and hold a missile launcher. (The highlight of his day) But the big highlight of our day was that it was in fact right on the runway of the airport so we were literally 300 yards or so from airplanes taking off and landing. Plus the base had fighter jets in the air doing fly-bys. My mom and I were practically chasing down the runway pumping our fist in the air. It was very exciting to say the least. Bug was a little off put by the extreme volume of the jets. My mom and I couldn't help but spend the rest of our day doing Top gun quotes and peeking around corners in hopes to find a sweaty volleyball game in progress somewhere. But to no avail.

We got some decent pictures out of the day though.

Who liknks to me? Ask me how....just kidding. Just click here.
